What does it mean that this preschool has teaching families? (2022-23 school we are suspending teaching parents from the classroom as a covid precaution)

It means that in this community we contribute our own special talents and all help each other out for the benefit of all our children. A community where it’s important to believe that the more you put into the community, the more you and especially your children get out of the community. Parents assist the teacher in the classroom to create a high adult-child ratio and provide a great learning environment for each child.

What is the philosophy of the school ?

WAP is a developmentally appropriate, play-based preschool. This means that we believe kids of this age learn best by hands-on experience with their world, not by forced memorization and seatwork. We have selected what we consider the best parts of many philosophies of early childhood education including Montessori, Reggio Emilia and Waldorf in order to create a balance of quality materials, meaningful dialogues and fun! We provide a wide range of activities that are developmentally correct for these ages (art projects, science experiments, sewing, goofing around, music, yoga, gardening, dance….)

What ages do we serve?

We enroll children ages 3, 4 and 5.

What days do children attend school?

We have 2 classrooms with approximately 14 children on a Monday-Thursday schedule 8:30-12:30 with children enrolled on a 3 or 4 day schedule.  The 2022-23 school year will have an 8:15-12:15, 8:30-12:30, or 8:45-12:45 drop-off and pick up times available as well as extended day options.
